WHO: The Book of You: A Record of Childhood (Colour Chronicles)

WHAT: Why does recording all your golden childhood stats, laugh out loud phrases and peculiar peccadillos have to end when when the pages of your baby book come to a close? Well, thanks to The Book of You it doesn’t! This beautifully designed hardback book has been created to record wonderful moments and memories from age one through to sixteen, with a series of fun questions to be filled out every year. Designed to be totally inclusive, the focus is on the child and there is no presumed Mummy/Daddy set up so that the book works for any family dynamic.

WHY: This is such a fantastic keepsake that children and adults will look back on for years. The playful questions are bound to invite comical responses and there are more mature questions as the child grows older. The bright hardback covers are really attractive and create a lovely flash of colour you’ll look forward to reaching for. Our judges were very impressed.

What a wonderful book. So unique!

WHO: OIOIOOI ALPHABET CARDS (Yoo Hye-Rim Design Play House)

More like this

WHAT: A set of beautifully designed alphabet cards with a difference. The 26 character cards can be overlaid by a corresponding letter of the same initial printed on a transparent card. The letters on the transparent tiles, fit snugly into the designs on the card making it a fun game to match the letter to the character. The set also comes with a transparent tile that can be used to place over the characters so that you can practice drawing your own letter on top with a dry marker, which of course can we wiped clean again and again.

WHY: These alphabet cards are a great example of learning through play and the beautifully designed characters, which all cleverly correspond to a letter were a great hit with our judges.

Such a brilliant idea. Genius!

WHO: Where’s Mr Duck illustrated by Ingela P Arrhenius (Nosy Crow)

WHAT: A board book with a nostalgic feel that will keep parents cooing as much as it keeps little ones entertained. With gorgeous artwork by Swedish homewares designer, Ingela P Arrhenius and ingenious felt flaps to lift and discover characters as well as a reflective mirror, this a book that truly engages babies and toddlers.

WHY: The beautiful illustrations had us at ‘Where’ and we love the gentle pace combined with flaps to lift and a surprise mirror at the end to show baby that they’re included in the story too.

Loved the use of the felt and colour.
