WHO: NO MORE NAPPIES
WHAT: A humorous board book designed to support you and your toddler through potty training helping children make that all important leap out of nappies.
WHY: This booked really resonated with our judges many of whom are going through or have recently been through the pivotal and very tricky milestone of potty training! Our judges loved the honest and humorous approach to the topic and thought the lift the flap features and fun drawings would really engage little ones. Interiors and textiles Designer Donna Wilson said “I love the pop up and pull down elements. Looks easy and fun to understand . Love the illustrations.” Founder of Scandimini Gabrielle Spang said it was a “Great informative book for both children and parents. I love the illustrations especially the pull down nappy!” while The Mutha.Hood founder Gemma Metcalfe-Beckers summed it up as “Wonderfully engaging and interactive.”
WINNER: SILVER FOR BEST BABY BOOK
WHAT: The Little Black & White Book Project brings to life animals from around the world in ethically made books suitable for babies and toddlers. There are 3 books in the series showcasing animals from Africa, Australia and Southeast Asia, all in high contrast black and white to captivate the youngest book worms.
WHY: Our judges were very taken with this series of books that introduce a wide range of wild animals to children through charming illustration in simple black and white. They loved the fact that not only do black and white images help stimulate brain development in young babies but that 25% of the profit from these books goes to wildlife charities and organisations. Chloe Thurston founder of Uberkid said “Love the map and the educational aspect of this!” and Gemma Melcalfe-Beckers from The Mutha.hood commented, “Wonderful illustrations and a great introduction to the plethora of animals in the world. I’d find this wonderful as when my little ones were small the basic cat and dog noises were rather tedious. Now I can fully embrace my inner sloth.”
WINNER: BRONZE FOR BEST BABY BOOK
WHAT: Amazingly, this is the 50th book from the best selling That’s not my… series featuring a very cute version of this mystical creature that seems to have entranced a whole generation of children, not to mention adults.
WHY: These much loved picture books are hugely popular for a reason. Many of our judges were familiar with the tried and tested format that keeps kids transfixed and encourages visual and sensory discovery from an early age. This cute unicorn version was greeted like an old friend and Gemma Metcalfe-Beckers (from The Mutha.Hood) gave this glowing feedback “We bought this book for my youngest. She is in love with it still at 3.5 years old.” and Holly Anna Scarsella, founder of ethical clothing collection Pamplone said “Love this series of books. Visually stimulating, encourages engagement from the kids.”
