Who else but Stella McCartney could do justice to a fashion collection inspired by the iconic Beatles movie Yellow Submarine? Her personal connection to the film (her dad is original Beatles member Paul McCartney for those that really don’t know!) inspired her to launch the “All Together Now” collection for women, men and kids.
Showing us that the power of love, music and friendship is as alive today as it was in the 60s, the kids pieces feature scenes, motifs and graphics from the psychedelic movie that was released fifty years ago in 1969 – a.k.a The Summer of Love. With wild and wacky characters (including bulldogs, yellow submarines and the fab four themselves) and colours that are as bright as you’d expect, it overflows with a youthful energy and with a distinct Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band vibe for a new generation.
I recently went to see a screening with family and friends for the digital relaunch of 'Yellow Submarine'. I hadn't seen it since I was young and honestly it blew my mind.It affected me in a way I wasn't expecting. Especially this idea of connecting people and bringing people together - politically this message has never been more relevant. So, I came out and I was like I have to do something.
Look out for the Stella McCartney Kids ‘Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds’ faux fur coat, Yellow Submarine and tie-dye printed tees and sweatshirts, a marching band inspired Trompe l’oeil cape complete with rucksack and cap and, some hippie inspired embroidered denims shorts and waistcoats. The solid message behind the campaign is solidarity, togetherness and sustainability and it has been created with such creativity, originality and of course, organically produced cotton – the kids (and, us grown-ups) and going to “love, love, love” it.
