We have been excited by rumours of a Karl Lagerfeld kids fashion collection for years (see image below). The notoriously 'shady' designer has been keeping us on the edge of our seats by sending mini versions of his collections down his catwalks. Hudson Kroenig, Lagerfeld's godson (above on the Chanel catwalk with Cara Delevigne and Lagerfeld), has appeared on the catwalk in various 'oh-so-chic' outfits.

But, today the news has finally been confirmed. Karl Lagerfeld will design a childrenswear collection operated under his eponymous adult line in collaboration with children's fashion licensing business, CWF (Children's Worldwide Fashion). CWF already partner with designer houses including Burberry, Chloe and Marc Jacobs on their respective childrenswear lines.

As the Chanel Fall Winter 2012-13 ready-to-wear collection sashayed down the icy catwalk at the Grand Palais in Paris, we were suitably excited to spot a mini version of the designer clothing tagging along. There has been much speculation about whether head honcho Karl Lagerfeld will be creating a childrenswear collection and the appearance of the three-year-old Hudson Kroenig, son of Chanel model Brad Kroenig, has done plenty to fuel the fires. Although, this isn't the first time we have seen little Hudson in a custom made Chanel outfit - he last took a turn on the Chanel catwalk in a cream blazer and denim ensemble for spring summer 2011 alongside his father who wore an appropriately adult-sized version of Hudson's. If his latest effort is anything to go by, a smart grey blazer, classic Chanel chain man/boy bag and cute brogues, then they are certainly on to a winner. Which mini-fashionista wouldn't kill for a piece of childrenswear by Chanel? We are sure to see Suri Cruise and co out and about in the first pieces if this set of rumours turn out to be true.
