Junior Trend Watch SS22

Anyone looking forward to brighter days will absolutely love the key childrenswear trends of this Spring/Summer. Dorothy officially isn't in Kansas anymore and glorious technicolour is everywhere! From bold colour-blocking at Stella McCartney, Ralph Lauren and Marc Jacobs to jolly deckchair stripes at Kids on The Moon and The Animal Observatory with a riot of hothouse flowers in between from The New Society, Mini Rodini and Wander & Wonder to mention but a few, we are all in for an extra bright and beautiful Summer. And if you do veer towards a more neutral palette - never fear - you can always cover up your rainbows and roses with a chic pared back trench coat, as seen at Mayoral, Fendi, Il Gufo and of course Burberry...

Deckchair Stripes

Broad and brightly colour stripes that would look perfectly at home blowing gently on the breeze in a sun bleached deckchair frame are giving strong Summer vibes this year as seen at Boden, Kids on The Moon, The Animals Observatory, Stella McCartney, Piupiuchick and more.

The Trench Coat

The clean lines and warm neutral tones of the classic trench coat create the perfect contrast to the season's otherwise loud and pattern soaked trends. With reinterpretations at Fendi, Mayoral and Il Gufo and shiny new popper style fastenings at Burberry, the trench is having a major comeback.

Hot House Flowers

Prepare to be overrun with a riot of tropical flowers. The beautiful hibiscus is a dominant theme at The New Society and Wonder & Wonder's Cuban inspired collection and you'll find full blown flowers covering everything from dresses to shorts at D&G, Mini Rodini, Il Gufo and more...

Colour Block

Clean lines and building blocks of colour were a big story for SS22. Stella McCartney themed a large part of her kids collection around this bold sporty theme which feels fresh and contemporary. Piupiuchick, Il Gufo, The Marc Jacobs and Ralph Lauren Kids were also big proponents of this look.

Comic Strip

Nothing says good times like the bold font of a comic strip and brightly coloured cartoons! Taking their inspiration from the likes of Marvel and The Beano, designers from Marc Jacobs to Stella McCartney have daubed their collections in compelling cartoon illustrations and captions that will have any child rapt - and they might actually read them too!
