Shanti Maurice
Experience Mauritius

Kids' Club Manager, Mrs Reana Thisbe, tells us what she thinks makes Shanti Maurice on the island of Mauritius so special...

Q: What is your favourite feature of the hotel?

A: This is a difficult one as there are so many unique features that are appealing to me at different times; however, the foremost has got to be sunset on the beach.

Q: What can families rely on when visiting your resort?

A: Families can certainly rely on bespoke service for each member. From babies to teenagers, not ignoring the adults who are young at heart, facilities such as Les Petits Dodos, Nira Spa, Red Ginger Lounge and Bar, the Boathouse, Fitness Centre and our various dining experiences, offer unique tailored attention for all.

The cultural side of the island is also a strong feature here at Shanti Maurice and our concierge team are experts at recommending excursions suited to different clients. Our rooms are very well appointed and provide luxurious and unpretentious comfort.

Q: If you were a child, which activity would you most want to do?

A: Camping (glamping to be more specific) – last year this was introduced by the team at Les Petits Dodos and it remains our most popular and requested activity to date.

Q: What's the best way for parents to spend an afternoon/evening?

A: Nira Spa, the largest and most comprehensive Spa in the Indian Ocean, provides authentic services to parents as it offers the blissful solace and pamper craved by everyone (especially those with children). Followed by a delightful evening commencing with delicious cocktails and followed by a marvelous meal.

Q: Is there an excursion you'd recommend above others?

A: The helicopter tour. This is by far one of the most unique ways to see and get a full appreciation of the island. This is a long sustained favourite of all our guests, particularly our younger ones.

Q: Are there any special extras you can add on e.g. private breakfasts/ champagne on arrival?

A: Our young guests are met by Les Petits Dodos Manager and are treated with a bottle of champagne (non-alcoholic of course) and oversized macaroons in their colour of choice (requested beforehand by reservations) in their rooms.

Q: Who has been your most exciting guest?

A: French Footballer Zidane who spent most of his evenings playing football and beach volleyball with most of our young in-house guests.

Q: What's the most exciting event that has been held at the resort?

A: Our Festive and Easter periods are filled with individual events and are excitingly anticipated by our guests. Last Christmas we hosted a Paparazzi Fashionistas Fashion Show that was a huge hit.

Q: What's the strangest request you've had from a guest?

A: To arrange an underwater marriage proposal.

Q: When is the best time to visit?

A: During Easter (March to April) or Christmas and New Year.
