Brand Watch: Mini Kyomo

From time to time we like to shine a spotlight on a brand that has really caught our eye and this particular brand-watch focuses on a watch-brand!

Mini Kyomo is the children's watch company set up by Barcelona based Isabelle Gavray, a mother who couldn't find a watch she liked for her son and decided to design her own. Isabelle had a very vivid vision of what she wanted to create while travelling in Colombia and designed the collection of four pieces there and then. The range was debuted at international children's fashion and maternity trade show, Playtime Paris and is now stocked in respected kids stores like Smallable, alexandalexa, Liberty and Soren's House to name a few!

There is something so pleasing about these mini time-pieces, that have a stylish retro feel, featuring statement watch-cases that look as though they've been hewn from slabs of chocolate or candy. Add in the delicious contrast of an old-school ribbed nylon strap, watch faces in soft muted shades with stand-out, colour-pop hands and numbers and this watch becomes a must-have accessory as well as an educational tool.

As gorgeous as these watches are to look at, what we really love about this brand is the attention to detail in terms of practicality for kids, ease of use and the fact that they are designed with sustainability in mind. The watches are made in Japan and use robust mineral glass for the faces and recycled nylon for the straps, which crucially, are washable. The watch face itself is designed to be easily read with seconds and hours clearly marked in bright primary shades. The watches are also waterproof so there will be no regrets having dived into that bath!

The original range of watches has now been added to with a seashore themed collection called 'La Mer' featuring gorgeous graphic prints on the straps and beach inspired colours.
