WINNER: PLATINUM BEST CHILDREN’S ACTIVEWEAR COLLECTION

WHO: Smalls - Pure Merino activewear and essentials

WHAT: A British designed essentials and activewear clothing range made from fully traceable, eco-friendly, super soft, Merino wool. Smalls super Merino is naturally technical and breathes like a second skin, keeping you warm in winter and cool in summer. It is also moisture wicking, flame retardant, anti-bacterial, naturally stretchy and anti-allergy. Amazing!

WHY: These multitasking base layers are so versatile they can be used for sport, as pyjamas or even as a sleek knit with jeans! Our judges loved the fact that Merino wool is a natural, sustainably produced and completely biodegradable fibre that has such incredible properties. This wool keeps you warm when it’s cold and cools you down when it’s hot and is even known for being anti-bacterial, meaning less pongy base layers under ski wear and sports clothes. One of the key points of interest to our panel was the fact that Smalls clothes are also machine washable.

Absolutely brilliant - super soft, perfect basics.
JDA19 judge and founder of The Mamahood, Diana Bardega
My son wears Smalls layers to bed and under his mini rugby kit and he never wants to take them off. I love the look of them on him too – there’s something so cute about the minimal cuts and block colours.

WHO: Muddy Puddles - Wild and Free Collection

Rainwear that works is how Muddle Puddles describe themselves and we’d have to agree. The technical performance of their all-in-one rainproof suits, wellies, jackets and accessories make a downpour something to celebrate and their unisex prints and colourways are always a joy to behold. Their latest collection features bold prints inspired by the great fossil hunter Mary Anning – perfect for any budding paleontologists.

WHY: The bold prints of icthysaurus, lizards and urchins as well as the option of more subtle fossil and feathers prints were a big hit with our judges who were also impressed by the brand’s dedication to cosiness. We are also excited to learn that Muddy Puddles have increased their commitment to sustainable sourcing, with over half of the collection now being made from recycled fabric.

Definitely feels warm and snug enough for all weathers.
Amanda Meachem, founder of children’s model agency Grace and Galor
Love the colours, the commitment to being a unisex brand and the emphasis on making these future hand me downs. The quality is great too.

WHO: Little Adventure Suit Company

WHAT: This new childrenswear brand makes beautiful organic cotton boiler suits with a nostalgic feel. With three designs, featuring sweet embroidered detailing, peter pan collars and unique prints, the practical all-in-one is given a whimsical, hand finished feel worthy of the name adventure suit.

WHY: Having a designated adventure suit is such a great idea and means no more grass stains, mud splatters and rips in your kids’ less robust clothes without having to compromise on style. The originality of this concept and design really struck our judges.

Love the retro feel of printed cotton drill boiler suits.
