Self-Portrait Launch Stunning Children's Clothing Range
It's not often that we're left speechless at Junior HQ but this collection of dresses from fashion label Self-Portrait has taken our breath away...
How much have we missed dressing up? SO much! All the cancelled weddings, bar mitzvahs, birthday parties and special occasions and what feels like a lifetime spent in joggers has us pining for structure and elegance, for clothes to celebrate life in. We want to revel in beautiful outfits for everyone, big and small!
Enter Self-Portrait who have answered this call and more for mini fashion mavens everywhere, with Self-Portrait Kids, a collection of incredible dresses (and one stunning cape) that will light up a room and are guaranteed to be on every bride's wish list for her flower girls.
Self-Portrait Founder and Creative Director Han Chong said of his move into childrenswear:
Since starting my brand 7 years ago, I have always dreamed of someday translating what Self-Portrait represents for a younger generation. Now that the brand is established, it felt like the perfect moment to bring our design codes and our joyful and uplifting sensibility to little people around the world. I wanted to start with a tight edit of styles, focused on happy pieces that allow kids to truly be, and feel like, themselves. I can’t wait to hear what they think!
Self-Portrait Kids launches with 21 styles, ranging from 3 to 12 years and aims to empower little people around the world through the brand’s unique design sensibility. The fashion house will launch two seasonal childrenswear collections each year, available in May and November. As well as dressing the younger generation, Self Portrait is also investing in their future by reducing its environmental impact by using responsibly sourced fibres and in 2019 started to introduce organic cotton and recycled chiffon and polyester across its collections and in 2020, the brand also introduced recycled viscose. Self-Portrait is also strongly committed to supporting the next generation of creative British talent through a number of initiatives including a scholarship program with Central Saint Martins in London.
We could not be more excited and look forward to watching this beautiful new children's label unfurl. We only have one question. Can Han Chong please make the capes in adult size? We've got a wedding to go to...
