If a South African safari is a step too far, then visit the new Wanyama Village & Reserve at Chessington World of Adventures. The new attraction features animals such as the grévy’s zebra and the scimitar-horned oryx, which graze freely at the back of the safari-themed Holiday Inn where there’s a spa, indoor pool and family restaurant. Children can even meet the meerkats at breakfast. The Roar and Snore package costs from £153 per night for a family of four, including breakfast and entry to the theme park and zoo for two days.
