The shiny new addition to the Sani Resort collection of hotels is Sani Dunes. Onthe peninsula in Halkidiki, Greece it is quite simply a magnificent addition to the portfolio.

Originally created as a grown up hotel, one that focused on adults and children over 12 - and what we experienced here. But, the resort has received overwhelming feedback from its partners and has taken the decision to remove the age limit when booking Sani Dunes for 2018. Which is great news for families looking for a luxury family holiday in Greece. Sani Dunes is it's fifth hotel and sits between the Sani Beach Club and Porto Sani right next to the marina.

With 136 deluxe rooms (with large balcony or gardens) that either look out towards the Aegean or over the stunning swimming pool that curves throughout the hotel. There is a fabulous spa, 2 outdoor pools, 3 wonderful bars and 3 top quality restaurants. The attention to detail is apparent from the moment you set foot into the spacious marble reception and gaze in awe at the beautiful art installations. It was at this moment that my mother gene kicked in and I hoped that if my children and I did come back here to stay they didn't attempt to use the beautiful glass and stone wall as a climbing wall as it looked incredibly appealing even to me.

However when you look around the hotel you can see the 12+ style that had been in the mind of the designers when it was created. There are quiet areas everywhere for relaxation; there are beautiful chairs with books to read and bars with high stools and fabulous light pastel colour schemes. Siping cocktails in the evening sun was clearly in the mind of the architects when they placed the bars within the resort, but it was also in my mind as we wandered about on on child free break.

Our trip was without exception perfect. And, no doubt will make the perfect family holiday too.

Where should we go to eat?

There is simply no reason to leave the hotel to enjoy your perfect holiday, Sani Dunes itself has it all. However leave you must to make the most of the Sani resort dine around package. During our 3 night stay we ate in 3 different restaurants across the resort and whilst the food was exceptional at them all, I just loved the atmosphere around the marina and for that reason chose Vosporos as my favourite.

Sailing back into the marina from our champagne sunset cruise (these go out every evening) and stepping into a restaurant with a view back to the sea was a wonderful way to while away our first evening in resort. It was also the point at which I decided a return trip to Sani with my family was definitely on the cards. Breakfast was also a culinary delight. The Beach House, our chosen breakfast spot for three luxurious morning, serves an incredible breakfast just steps away from the sea. Booking in advance is advisable but worth it in my opinion to eat Eggs Royale, sip freshly squeezed orange juice and wonder if you can fit in another pastry, all with a view of the very blue sea.

What's there to do?

Watersports on the beach front, theatre nights and beach parties are all on offer and many people I spoke to chose not leave the resort once they had arrived. If you do however decide to leave the resort then you should definitely take advantage of the two hour chauffeur driven private tour with Volvo. The trip takes place in Volvo's luxury cars which takes you around the coastline, through the forest, past sunflower fields, finally ending on a cliff top above Afytos where a bottle of champagne appears for you to drink whilst you soak up the views eating strawberries! It was a tough two hours but someone needs to do it!
