Where? St Ives.

Why go there? St Ives is a pretty town overlooking soft white sand beaches. It has also just been voted the Best UK Seaside Town at the British Travel Awards.

Children will love... Simply rock-pooling and building sandcastles on the lovely beaches for a start. The Eden Project in St Austell and spotting kingfishers at Ryan’s Field RSPB reserve are other attractions close at hand.

Parents will love... A boat trip around the bays spotting seals and dolphins, surf lessons and the chance to taste Cornish oysters and other fine fare at the Porthminster Café that’s perched on the beach.

Stay at… Carbis Bay Holidays has lovely self-catering options, but Portside villa in nearby Carbis Bay is ideal for families. It has sea views, sleeps six and usually costs from £940 per week, but is available on a special offer between May 7–14 for £860.
