A magical half-timbered manor house (and smaller circular manors and panoramic restaurant) set in a lush Normandy countryside sounds like a place from a romantic novel - and believe us when we say pulling up to the the reception of Hotel Les Manoirs de Tourgeville is like a romantic novel.

A charming hotel full of character and seeped in movie history - as stars of the silver screen often stayed here in the 1970's and 1980's - as it's located near the famous Deauville boardwalk (known as “Les Planches”) home of the famous film festival. Les Manoirs de Tourgeville is a welcoming 4-star hotel to add to your 'must-visit' list. Les Manoirs de Tourgeville (part of Groupe Floirat) offers 57 room including including 35 suites, the 1899 restaurant, spacious lounge/bar area, an indoor heated pool, a fitness center, a sauna, three relaxation cabins and a private cinema ensuring a luxurious stay for all the family.

THE ROOMS:

We stayed in one of the Duplex Suites which are located on the first level of the main building with sweeping views of the gardens - each room is named after a famous movie star to honour its movie history. Les Manoirs De Tourgeville was commissioned by movie director Claude Lelouch (infamous in the local area for his 1960's movie 'A Man and A Woman') as a setting for another movie named 'Hotel' rather than assembling a cardboard set, the movie never happened and the rest is history.

The Duplex rooms feature an elegant living room and a bathroom and a upper almost, mezzanine upper level where there is a double room. The Manor suites and Triplex suites are ideal for families - some can be booked with interconnecting suites making them ideal for larger groups, families or the nanny.

THE BATHROOM SHELF:

A small selection of own branded toiletries are supplied in the bathroom and the high-end Institut Esthederm is used in the spa for all face and body treatments.

THE POOL:

Besides the peace and calm of the gardens, leisurely strolls in the surrounding countryside or the outdoor sun loungers - the indoor pool (constantly set to 27 degrees all year round) is the perfect spot for time-out - and, of course fun for the children. There is also tennis courts, bicycles to hire and a fitness centre of the more active.

FOR KIDS:

There may be no specific kids clubs or rooms at Les Manoirs de Tourgeville but the essence of the hotel is that it is to be treated as 'at home, away from home'. The cosy, relaxed yet luxurious setting means family reunions, weekend getaways and even romantic breaks are all welcome - and to wander the halls, gardens and use the lounge areas and cinema as if you were in your own home. Children are welcome in the pool, restaurant and the suites make the ideal living quarters for larger families. As well as the private cinema - a 50-seat imitate screening room with movie-night snacks to order and enjoy while watching an old classic or a family favourite.

THE FOOD:

The panoramic 1899 restaurant seats 150 guest and offers up traditional yet, modern lunches and suppers using locally sourced seasonal produce including Normandy Beef, fresh fish and seafood and desserts to die for. If Calvaos is you thing you will be spoilt for choice in the lounge bar - where they serve an extensive menu of drinks and home-made cocktails using this regional apple Brandy. Enjoy on the terrace in the summer or during winter, by the fireplace you may never want to retire back to your room. Breakfast at Les Manoirs is a feast for the eyes - freshly baked croissants, pancakes, fresh baguettes, fruit palters and more - this is the breakfast buffet of dreams.
