DIGITAL NATIVES: That’s the term coined for children when it comes to computers and technology, because living in a digital age comes so naturally to them.

That is also why there is now a raft of funky multi-media learning handheld devices and tablets designed specifically for young children that combine educational games, fun activities – like drawing and colour-matching, and e-books – as well as music players, cameras and videos, all in one neat little gadget.

Some tablets are Wi-Fi enabled, so your child can access the internet and watch videos on YouTube – with parental controls so you can decide what he can or can’t view. Another handy feature is a headphones facility, as many of the apps have jingly, jangly sound effects that can start to grate…
