Keycamp’s three tree houses in France are extremely popular. So here are some alternatives when you are on the waiting list: 

- Forest Holidays have new tree houses attached to their luxury cabins in Yorkshire, Cornwall and Scotland. Hiring the cabin with tree house costs from £734 for a four-night midweek break. Call 0845 130 8223.

- Orion B&B has four tree houses in France, two specifically for families, outside gorgeous Saint-Paul de Vence, near Nice. From €190 per night.
