Ever felt guilty taking your child
out of school for a week overseas? Or even worse – been fined by
your child’s school? Well, soon the law could be on your side, as travel website Take The Family has launched a campaign to make ten days off during term time a legal right. Currently, the entitlement is only at a head teacher’s discretion with a fine of £100 for parents who break the school’s rulings. The campaign is supported by a poll revealing that 92 per cent of parents agree with the idea of holidays with a learning aspect or ‘eduvacations’. However, Take The Family suggests parents would need to demonstrate how the holiday will have significant educational elements by submitting a form to show how the trip will tie in with their child’s current learning stage.
