Oh-so-cool Cayman Islands
The Cayman Islands lie about 150 miles southwest of Cuba and have a bounty of flora and fauna than rivals the Galapagos and an old-fashioned community spirit that welcomes families. Explore mangroves, hold butterflies at Butterfly Farm, learn about the rare blue iguana (just about the closest thing to a dinosaur you’re ever likely to see), hold baby turtles at Boatswain’s Beach Adventure Park & Turtle Farm, and investigate former real pirate caves in Bodden Town. An Ocean View apartment at Turtle Nest Inn sleeps up to four and costs US $999 (about £605) for a week in October, including hire car.
