BACK IN LONDON from the delights of Pitti Bimbo in Florence and we are suddenly plunged into the traditional round of 'Christmas in July' which every journalist loves as we are treated to previews of all the goodies in store for the festive season.
Today we visited a presentation by Boots and only just missed a guest appearance from Fearne Cotton, who (busy little businesswoman that she is) is launching a really girly cosmetics range for winter. We loved the new toiletries range from Joules which included cute little soaps wrapped as eggs in a carton and body lotions, and shampoos decorated with Joules' tasteful prints. The Ninja Hamsters (which are predicted to be huge this Christmas) and their new bedding and night sets for children were also lovely. We found the youngest attendee Natalia closely examining Christmas baubles.
We also popped in to the glitzy show for Ernest Jones and H Samual who were showcasing their new collections in the divine atmosphere of 5 Cavendish Place with a beautiful garden terrace fitted with soft huge purple sofas. There were lots of fabulous diamond rings on show, but we were most impressed by the Marc Jacobs' watch, retailing at £300, Simon Carter diamond skull cufflinks – perfect for the ultimate Hallowe'en accessory – and the cute thong-style charm bracelet for little girls.
In Camden, the highlights at French Connection's festive offering was the baby range, lots of minimal baby grows fashioned in berry shades, snow whites and icy blues.
In Notting Hill, the Portrait Communications Christmas press day had an array of offerings, including the cutest knitted cake decorations by Bombay Duck and the chich modern decorations from Talking Tables.
