Junior was in amongst the throngs of people who headed to Westfield Stratford City for the 'super-mall's' grand opening. We watched Mayor Boris Johnson cut the ribbon to officially declare the centre open followed by an energetic performance from pop star Nicole Scherzinger. Having been declared the 'largest shopping centre in Europe' we were surprised to find ourselves engulfed by happy shoppers crowding to discover what shops the East of London now has to offer. Although, the huge queues were partly down to many of the stores offering opening day gifts and refreshments.
Westfield is certainly a centre with a view, having been designed to make the most of it's location as the gateway to the Olympic site. We saw fantastic new perspectives of the main stadium and the awesome aquatics centre. Don't miss the ground floor children's shopping area which already includes a Lego, Build-a-Bear, Tommy Hilfiger, Polarn O. Pyret, Mothercare and Atelier de Courcelles. Also, coming soon, are Dolly Rocker Kids which sells Hackett, Converse, No Added Sugar amongst others and Bebe Bisou which offers Gucci, Baby Dior, Ralph Lauren, D&G, Fendi and Junior Gaultier, to name just a few.
