If, like us, you have spent most of January dreaming of warmer climes, you will be pleased to hear that lots of the spring summer collections are set to drop into high street stores from next week.
Top of the shops for us this week is River Island childrenswear: a vibrant array of on trend Aztec prints, zingy neon colours, show-stopping dresses and cool cowboy denim to jolt your child's wardrobe into the spring summer season.
The gallery above is an exclusive preview of what will be available online and in store.
Did you know... River Island childrenswear was Highly Commended in the Best Fashion Retailer category in the Junior Design Awards 2012
In good time for Easter, you will find plenty of fifties style, prom-inspired dresses in soft colours, overlaid with lace. A highlight of River Island childrenswear is the attention paid to the detailing, which is often expertly transferred from lots of the same season womenswear styles.
Cowboy style denim dresses and shirts are enhanced with Navajo patterns and statement embellishment. Studded detail cowboy boots and tan accessories finish the look. We also love the rose embroidery shirts and fringing detail on jumpers.
Bring on festival season with neon brights, graffiti print leggings and prom-style party dresses teamed with hi-tops trainers conjure a fun, carefree feel.
We chatted with Rebecca Whittington, boyswear designer, who introduced us to the summer collection.
"Boyswear for summer 2013 is street wise." Rebecca says. "Look out for denim jeans, in colours, rather than chinos and lots of denim detailing, even on shoes. Rucksacks are a great accessory with Aztec detailing and our T-shirts that feature city prints have translated from menswear to boyswear. Keep an eye out for skull designs too."
"Our Renegade trend," Rebecca continues, "features military style, lightweight khaki jackets, caps have snakeskin detail and military boots finish the look. Colours are highlights of orange and lemon pastels."
"The Oxford partywear look features rolled up shorts, bow ties, and blazers with rolled up sleeves and a few trilby hats."
The boyswear, as always, will keep your man about town looking sharp. And is it just us, or does the budding male model above have more than a touch of Harry Styles about him?
