With the warming smell of pine in the air and twinkling fairy lights in sight, it was an outdoorsy, nostalgic type of Christmas that greeted us at Next's press preview. The cut-out deer display cabinets adhered to the country feel, with lots of the homeware accessories following suit. Graphic prints of animals including deer and winter wolves appeared over cushions, squirrels and acorns as ornaments and the ever present owl over anything and everything; the feathered friend still appearing to be the hit of the season.
Popular colours are natural and warm in tone, with the addition of purple and green tartan accessories in some homeware. Robots are still making an appearance in toys, this time seen as a sweet dispenser. We also spotted a lightsaber and can think of a handful of boys, and adults, who would love it.
Childrenswear is much more trend led than previous seasons, with a real pick up of the Aztec prints, tartan and glitter trends. Boyswear is a mix of country cosy, tweed and tartan, and East London cool, skinny jeans and denim shirts. We love the car print design for baby, especially over the grey skinny jeans. Girls are spoilt with an amazing collection of footwear including some fantastic sparkly trainers and playful hi-tops. We also spotted a great combination of sequin shorts with a forest green jumper - a funky alternative to party dresses.
