WHO: Mini Magpie

WHAT: Mum of two, Kimberley Golding, is a cool unisex, eco clothing brands for kids (and parents) who like to have fun with fashion. Each piece is handmade and created from recycled materials. Look out for the dungarees made from jumpers.

WHAT: We love Gap kidswear! And so does our columnist, fashion designer Olivia Rubin, who rates it as one of her top five shops for kids. The Star cardigan is the one seen on Prince George when he was photographed at a polo event.

Rachel Riley boyswear

WHO: Rachel Riley 

WHAT: The Rachel Riley fashion brand is synonymous with classic British design, offering clothing with a vintage feel and all the excellent quality that you would expect from a label with gorgeous standalone stores in Knightsbridge and Marylebone. Rachel Riley herself has always stayed true to her eponymous brand's traditional values, and has recently been evermore in the spotlight since Prince George wore the sailing dungarees on a royal tour, and an outfit with red shorts to his sister, Princess Charlotte's christening.

Personally, I think the boyswear collection is superior, in terms of funky and on trend designs, to most high street stores. WHAT: For easy to wear, block colours, hard-wearing, affordable, cool cotton pieces for the whole family, it's hard to beat UNIQLO. Make a beeline for the outerwear for the boys - it is outstanding.

WHO: No Added Sugar

WHAT: The coolest prints, in rich hues over superb quality materials, for both boys and girls. What started as a brand that offered witty slogans on baby T-shirts, has gone on to become a destination place to shop. One not to be missed.

WHO: Mothercare, Little Bird at Mothercare and Baby K at Mothercare

WHAT: The high street staple has been rejuvenated in recent years with wonderful collaborative collections from Jools Oliver - Little Bird, and Baby K by Myleene Klass. Don't miss the Mothercare own brand collection for both boys and girls, which is now much more design led than in previous years.

WHO: Designer fashion labels at Harrods

WHAT: A wide range of designer clothing and accessories for children, from newborn to age 16. You'll also find designer prams and toys in other parts of the store. Fashion labels stocked for boys include Paul Smith Junior, Armani, Burberry, Kenzo and Polo Ralph Lauren. Shopping online is easy and convenient, but shopping in store is a real treat.

WHO: Sunuva

WHAT: The coolest kids' UV swimwear and beachwear we've found yet. As well as being protective, (UPF 50+), kids will enjoy wearing the fun range of colourful pieces. It's wonderful to see the colours being as bright and the designs being as playful for the boys as much as for the girls. Neon = perfect for the sunshine.

WHO: Tobias & the Bear

WHAT: A brand that started off with the idea of cool, printed leggings, has quickly expanded into T-shirts, sweatshirts and even a really fantastic range of bedding for babies and children. We love the 'Just call me fox' sweatshirt. Clothing available from 3 months to 4 years.

Great list, we are so happy to be UK stockists of Huxbaby, as well as Tobias and the Bear, must mean we are an very cool shop!
Such big fans of the independent brands and we have brought lots of them together at www.alittlebitmilo.com

I was surprised to see that Start Rite shoes (http://www.startriteshoes.com/) on the list. We think that these are the best children's shoes around. They look great, the kids rarely complain about painful feet, and they wear well too.
