We have never much needed an excuse to dine out on pizza. But, thankfully, ASK Italian gave our brood a brilliant reason to try it's brand new, and charitable, Niamh Pizza, £10.95, on offer at branches nationwide this summer. It is a joint creation by Italian specialist chef, Theo Randall, proprietor of his eponymous restaurant at the InterContinental Hotel in London, and 12-year-old Niamh - a patient at Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital. ASK Italian will be donating 20p from each Niamh pizza sold, to the worthy children's charity.
The Niamh, or Prima Pizza Prosciutto e Pancetta, arrived on an impressive chunky wooden board, complete with cutting wheel, and was large enough to make all of our eyes widen with anticipation. We had already kicked off our culinary evening out, with a delicious Santos tomato and Prosciutto salad - a brilliant appetiser to whet the appetite, and perfect summer eating. We would also recommend the San Pellegrino Limonata, as nothing has ever quenched our city heat induced thirst, quite so well!
But, back to the main event... The Niamh is a pretty (and delicious) pizza, with a tomato base, pancetta and prosciutto middle and topped with rocket leaves and caramelised onions. As a party of two, we ordered two pizzas in total and, upon reflection, two could be enough to feed a family of four, especially taking a starter into consideration. Although, it did mean that the friendly waiting staff were able to box up our leftovers, which we happily munched on for our lunch the next day.
Namesake Niamh says of her creation: “I want to be a chef when I’m older, so it was a dream come true to get the chance to work alongside Theo Randall to create my own pizza. I am so excited to see it on the menu!”
Chef supreme, Theo Randall, commented: “I was impressed with Niamh’s passion for food from the onset, so it’s a great privilege to be working with someone with such talent and enthusiasm, and most importantly doing it all for a good cause. Niamh’s pizza will not only help raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity but also highlight the budding talent amongst its patients."
Try the Niamh pizza, £10.95 each, with your family, this summer at ASK Italian.
