With Galvin brothers Chris and Jeff at the helm – or rather at the hot stove – the business of fine dining has always been a family affair at Galvin Restaurants. Renowned for their Michelin-starred haute cuisine, inspired by the classic French style, their fine dining establishments include Galvin At Windows atop the Park Lane Hilton, Galvin Bistrot De Luxe on Baker Street and, arguably in the most stunning setting of a gloriously converted chapel, Galvin La Chapelle. With a grand old-style entrance, and a doorman to boot, La Chapelle oozes casual charm and a warm welcome that well and truly extends to family.
With six children between them, Chris and Jeff know a thing or two about the trials and tribulations of having young diners in restaurants, but they are also determined to offer an enjoyable and exceptional experience. The result is their much-lauded Family Friendly Sunday Lunch. With a Prix Fixe Menu of £26.50 per person for three courses and £9.50 for children, you will be treated to delicious food, with a choice of Roast Monkfish; Tranches of Calve’s Liver or Roast Rump of Lamb, while children tuck into a slightly more traditional Roast Chicken Breast – fresh from the wood-fired oven – with Pommes Mousseline and Green Beans. And while the smoothest mash they’ve ever tasted might not necessarily excite every child (though you may find you have to up your game when presenting bangers and mash at home), the table tantalisingly laid with family board games and toys is sure to delight.
The food is a real treat, and, from the welcome at the door to the moment you leave, the staff are attentive, warm and friendly – and able to elicit the best behaviour from young diners with the deftness of a professional wrangler.
