Ingredients
Margarine
1 slice of wholemeal bread
1 medium-sized egg
A large cookie cutter – use any shape that makes a hole big enough to pour an egg into
Method
Preheat the oven to 200°C/400°F/Gas Mark 6. Dip a paper towel into the margarine and wipe over the baking tray to grease. Spread margarine on one side of the slice of bread. Press your cookie cutter into the middle of the bread to make a hole and lift out the shape you have cut out. Put both pieces of bread onto the baking tray, with the margarine side facing up. Crack the egg into a saucer, then slide into the hole in the bread. Put the baking tray into the oven and bake for 7 minutes, or for a little longer if you prefer not to have your egg yolk too runny. Put on some oven gloves and carefully lift the baking tray out of the oven. Finally, use a spatula to slide both pieces of toast onto a plate and eat straightaway while it’s hot.
