Spooky spaghetti

Sausages look remarkably like fingers buried in worms in this scary recipe!

Serves 2–4

Ingredients

1 onion, peeled and chopped
2 tbsp olive oil
A knob of butter
8 ripe tomatoes, peeled, deseeded and cut in quarters
200g (7oz) spaghetti
50g (13/4oz) butter 
Mini sausages, cooked
Grated Parmesan cheese
Salt and pepper, to taste
Plastic spiders, to serve

Method

First, make your tomato sauce by frying the onions in the oil and a knob of butter on a lowish heat for about 10 minutes until softened, stirring every now and then. Plop in all the tomatoes and continue cooking for half an hour, stirring and mashing up the tomatoes with your spoon occasionally. Just before the sauce is ready, cook the spaghetti in plenty of boiling salted water, according to the packet instructions. Once cooked, strain and return it to the pan with a knob of butter. Now season the sauce to taste before adding the mini sausages. Pour the tomato sauce over the pasta and stir through. Serve with the Parmesan and pop the plastic spiders on the spookhetti to make it extra scary… but be careful not to eat them!
