Funky lunch: King Of The Jungle sandwich

Fussy eaters won't be able to resist this charming lion-shaped sandwich with its mane of cheese and carrots

Ingredients

Wholemeal bread
Sandwich filling of your choice
Cucumber
Black grapes
Ham or red apple skin
Cheese
Carrot

Method

1 Assemble your sandwich using the slices of bread and your preferred filling.

2 Cut out the head shape from the sandwich and then use a piece of the leftover bread to form a triangle shape for a nose.

3 For the eyes, use oval-shaped pieces of sliced cucumber and finish each eye with a grape half.

4 Take a slice of cucumber skin and mirror the shape of the bread nose as you cut, then lay it over the top. Cut out a thin tripod-shaped piece of cucumber skin to make the mouth and a semi-circular bit of ham, or red apple skin, for the tongue.

5 For the lion’s mane, take some slices of cheese and some carrot sliced lengthways and make lots of triangle shapes.

6 Tuck these shapes in between the layers of sandwich, alternating between cheese and carrot to get a good mix of colours.
