We love this great-start breakfast that is a lot easier and healthier than a full English breakfast
Makes 1 portion
For extra taste, you could add a blob of ketchup or Daddies sauce on top. And its short preparation time means it works well as a quick tea.
A little butter1 piece of thick ham1 large egg1 tbsp grated Gruyère cheeseSome crusty bread or toast
Preheat the oven to 180ºC/350ºF/Gas Mark 6. Rub a little butter inside a ramekin. Break up the slice of ham into the bottom. Crack the egg on top, then sprinkle the cheese over. Bake for 12–15 minutes.
Let it cool slightly and wrap a wet napkin around the outside of the ramekin for the children, in case it is too hot.
Serve straight from the oven for adults with crusty bread, or toast, that can be cut into soldiers, for children.
