Set within the 1,000-year-old walls that once housed the noble Chigi Saracini family of Siena, Castel Monastero is a Tuscan retreat. Originally a monastery, the resort will have 76 guest rooms and suites, as well as the Castel Monastero villa.
The property has hilltop gardens that overlook the surrounding orchards, vineyards and olive groves. Castel Monastero also has its own church for intimate christenings or vow renewals, and there are three restaurants that will be overseen by Gordon Ramsay. One hour from Florence, the hotel offers an array of activities for families and children, including a miniclub, bicycle hire, horse riding, hot-air balloon trips, three swimming pools and tennis courts. From €2,065 for a family of four for a three-night stay.
