Where? New Orleans, in America’s Deep South.

Why go there? The US’s jazz capital, New Orleans, is back in business after 2005’s Hurricane Katrina, and welcomes families with warm Southern hospitality.

Children will love... Taking a steamboat ride down the Mississippi. If it’s rainy, children can check out the Aquarium of the Americas or the Audubon Insectarium, the largest museum in the US dedicated to insects.

Parents will love... The historic French Quarter, with its jazz clubs, bars and Creole restaurants, and the famous nightlife hotspot, Bourbon Street. February also sees Mardi Gras celebrations in the city.

Stay at… The Hyatt Regency New Orleans recently reopened following a $275 million redesign, and boasts 1,193 new rooms. A seven-night stay for a family of four in a two-queen bedroom costs from approximately £668.
