Thailand's Katathani Beach Resort

Located 500 miles east of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean, Mauritius is equally famed for sun and surf and sweet breezes. Beachcomber’s Trou Aux Biches is the island’s most sought-after beach resort, a magnificent stretch of platinum blonde beaches overlooking a pristine lagoon. Due to reopen this November after an 18-month, £60-million transformation, the luxury all-suite hotel has six restaurants, six garden pools and spacious tropical gardens. Seven nights’ half board, including flights, costs £1,655 per person. This palm-kissed paradise also lends itself to super-safe bathing for children and perfect conditions for snorkelling, either in its lagoon or along its reefs. Another Beachcomber hotel directly on the beach is the five-star Le Paradis, which has a long private stretch of sandy white beach perfect for snorkelling, paddling and watersports. All Beachcomber hotels – including Sainte Anne Resort in the Seychelles – offer a host of land and watersports, and a free Bob Marlin Miniclub for children aged three to 12, plus a brand new Teenagers Club.

All the beaches in the Seychelles are public, but one of the most beautiful is found on Praslin, the universal blueprint for the perfect tropical island. One of the best beaches is Anse Lazio, in the far north. The silver-coloured sand is soft, accompanied by rounded granite boulders and translucent turquoise waters. This beach is best accessed when staying at Lémuria Resort and Spa. Seven nights’ B&B, including flights, from £2,239 per person with Tots Too.

Few islands can boast such an abundance of sandy beaches and clear waters as Phuket in Thailand. Located on the southwest coast in secluded Kata Noi Bay, the Katathani Beach Resort has an exclusive Beach Club for guests to relax. There’s a dedicated children’s pool and slide, a bubbling water spring, cascading water archway, Jacuzzi, covered lounge area, lush tropical lawn, choice of restaurants serving exquisite Thai and international cuisine and a top-notch spa. Seven nights in February costs £4,070 for a family of four with Kuoni.
