As we know Junior readers have impeccable taste, we invited you to take part in our Junior Design Awards by perusing our online gallery of beautiful covers – all 140 of them – and telling us which you liked the best. Now the votes are in and the prize goes to the adorable girl with The Cat In The Hat dress, who graced the cover of issue 92, April 2007. She certainly has stand-out appeal. Not only does she have a fabulous outfit, with matching paperback bonnet and shoes, her expression also perfectly conveys her surprise at seeing the Cat in the Hat himself holding forth at her feet.
Naturally, your child is the apple of your eye (it’s a parent’s prerogative, after all). So, could she be our next cover star? “It’s not just about a pretty face,” says Linda McLean, Junior’s Fashion Director. “While it helps if features are symmetrical and pleasing, personality is just as important. Your child must be at ease with strangers, happy to change outfits many times and understand and follow instructions. The best child models love attention. Sometimes it’s hard to get them to go home!”
Signing up your child to an agency is a good way to help start her modelling career. Reputable agencies include Kids London, Urban Angels and Bruce & Brown.
