Long gone are the days of cutesy motifs and predictable colourways: children’s interiors is a brave new world filled with sleek design and chic aesthetics, and with a new generation its fortunate beneficiaries. “You can have so much fun designing for children,” says Mandy Colliss, who was inspired to start design company Funky Little Darlings with partner David Quinton by the birth of their daughter. “You can be crazy – anything is possible. Colour is important, too; children love to surround themselves with it and it is positively mood-enhancing.” Giving a splash of paint to a room can add colour, sure, but it’s wallpaper or a statement wall decoration that will really add character and a stamp of your child’s individuality.
