“Nearly everything that we have in the nursery has got a little story behind it,” says Kate. “Even the pictures on the wall are pretty much from places that we have visited in the past. I love having things around me that hold memories – which is what Belle & Boo is about too. Some people might say, ‘All you have done is fill your house with junk’.
But I would always say, ‘No, everything in this house tells a story’.” On the shelf in Robyn’s bedroom is an appliquéd and embroidered picture of a seaside harbour. “We bought it on our first trip with Robyn down to Appledore, north Devon, from Ali’s Gifts & Jewellery, a tiny shop run by a little old lady who had made the picture herself. It’s so sweet. We love finding unusual stuff and not worrying if it ‘goes’ with our interiors or not.”
