Kate is passionate about Belle & Boo, which has already attracted a bevy of celebrity fans – including Jools Oliver who recently bought several prints for her daughter Petal Blossom Rainbow’s nursery. “Mandy’s illustrations remind me of my childhood,” says Kate. “They have a special resonance, especially for those of us who are thirtysomething.”

The drawings do have a gorgeously nostalgic feel and look as though they are straight off the pages of a picture book. Think Milly-Molly-Mandy Stories and Eve Garnett’s The Family From One End Street crossed with a bit of fairytale illustration by Arthur Rackham. “Mandy adored the picture books she grew up with,” says Kate. “We’re trying to recapture that with prints that you can put on your wall. I love the fact that Robyn will be able to gaze at them and make up her own stories in years to come.”
