With its baby-pink rubber floor and retro units filled with beautiful ceramic tableware, the kitchen is vibrant with life and colour. An entire wall, which stretches out to the hall, has been completely papered with pictures of Ashlyn, Olive and their friends and family. “I print them off from my computer,” says Ashlyn. “It’s so easy and cheap. You just use regular A4 paper, print a load out and then stick them on the wall. If there’s one thing people comment on when they visit the house for the first time, it’s that picture wall.”

It’s hard to imagine there’s only one thing people comment on when they come here – there are so many things worth commenting on that one could fill a blog. Which is precisely what Ashlyn intends to do next. “There are loads of inspiring things that I come across in the course of my day, so I’m going to start a blog, a sort of updatable scrap book, so that I can share all that great stuff with anyone who’s interested.” We’ll definitely be logging on.
