As one might expect, Olive’s bedroom is adorable. Brilliant lanterns hang from the ceiling, artworks made from vintage fabric adorn the walls, and the colourful bedding covering the steel-framed bed is from Rice, a cool Danish design company. A mural by family friend and scenic painter Suzanna Burton stretches around a corner and two walls, making this a most unique bedroom. “Olive loves her room,” says Ashlyn. “She’s very much into imaginative play and really gets into pretending to be different characters. At the moment it’s dogs. I had to serve her lunch on the floor the other day, as she was so determined to stay in character.”

The bathroom was originally a bedroom and is a stylish chill-out space. White ceramic tiles on the walls contrast with the dark-stained wooden flooring and there is an open fireplace that is lit during the winter months; there’s even a leather armchair where Ashlyn’s boyfriend or Olive might sit while they catch up on the events of the day.
