Do you believe in being third time lucky? Well, when it came to finding the perfect family home, that was certainly the case for Matt and Keely Paice. After the birth of their daughter Afiya, they had moved from a minimalist loft apartment in Covent Garden to rent a more family-friendly home in a leafy west London suburb. When the house next door came up for sale, they snapped it up: that was home number two on the street.

The only problem was that Keely likes a bit of a challenge, and this house wasn’t a wreck, so they were limited as to how much they could stamp their mark on it. However, not soon after, a house further along the street came up for sale. It needed a complete overhaul. By now, Matt was keen on the idea, but Keely wasn’t so sure. They had two daughters both under the age of four – Afiya, and their second daughter, Eleni. In the meantime, the couple had also set up a business, Babyplanners (a support service for new and expectant parents), and this was now taking off. With Matt also busy with his work as a television producer, Keely was aware that she would end up managing the majority of the work on the house.
