Throughout the house, mirrored furniture and twinkly chandeliers are counterbalanced with modern perspex and glass pieces. A gallery of family photographs and displays of one-off treasures add intimacy to the look. Grace collects vintage tea sets and cake stands, and they look wonderful displayed with other precious mementoes in her elegant glass-fronted armoires.
At the top of the first flight of stairs, on the half landing, is the study, where Grace wrote her first book, The Fabulous Mum’s Handbook (Arrow, £7.99). “The study has become Raphael’s nursery now,” says Grace. “I decided to leave the beautiful silver-and-white designer wallpaper, as it would have been a crime to cover it up,
and the crystal chandelier stayed put too. So it’s not a boyish room, nor a girly one, it’s just a very, very stylish one. And I thought, well why shouldn’t a baby have a stylish bedroom!”
