Downstairs, what was once a jaded warren of small rooms has been transformed into two spacious living areas: a light-filled kitchen-diner where the family eat, do homework and generally hang out together; and a sophisticated grown-up living room that has been filled with an eclectic mélange of contemporary and antique pieces.
Two comfy sofas upholstered in white linen are a clever contrast to a velvet-covered chaise longue and an ornate painted French armoire that has been filled with much-loved treasures. A feature wall is papered in a glamorous, metallic wallpaper, which adds subtle colour and texture. Crystal chandeliers hang above gilt-framed mirrors, and a vintage rocking horse adds a sense of nostalgic charm.
