Eco clothes designer Nicole Frobusch has used Seventies styling and vintage furniture to create a quirky family home
Much effort has gone into creating this happy haven and when you walk into the house it’s a riot of pattern and colour and Nicole admits to being heavily influenced by the Seventies. “I consciously chose these things because they remind me of my childhood,” she says.
First up is a giant floral canvas hanging in the hall that is covered with a textile design that must have featured on a thousand little girls’ dresses. “Underneath the fabric is a picture that I found on Brick Lane,” says Nicole. “I later realised that it was a dotty painting depicting soldiers and guns, so I had to cover it up with something pink and flowery.” As she leads the guided tour, Nicole explains that she and Paul have done little structurally to the house, apart from revamping the bathroom using vintage Seventies tiles. The remainder has grown organically, lovingly decorated with Nicole’s treasures, or what she likes to call “my bits”.
