With woodland walks in beautiful West Sussex countryside, the Willcock family now happily resist the lure of London
Alex and Charlie have kept accessories simple but functional: old-fashioned glass cabinets display ceramics; framed black-and-white family portraits are stacked on floating shelves in the upstairs hallway; vases are filled with pale pink peonies and old English roses.
Colour has been used sparingly. Instead, Alex and Charlie have chosen pale neutral shades for the soft furnishings and creamy linen curtains for the windows, while beds have soft white cotton bedding.
The children’s rooms are just as chic, with white walls and hard-wearing natural carpets. Quirky mobiles, made by Charlie, hang from the ceiling beams, and in Song’s room there are vintage high chairs, old dolls’ houses, an antique Mickey Mouse rocking chair and a wigwam. In Otter’s room, a mini four-poster cot-bed with muslin drapes sits beneath a ‘light branch’ of fairylights. His cuddly toys are stored in cotton bags fixed to the wall at precisely his height.
