What is your name and job title?
Gerjan Storm, Product designer at Quinny
Can you tell us a little about the buggy you have entered into the awards, and why you think it is award winning?
The Quinny Yezz is an ideal buggy for urban use and any parent who wants a simple, robust lightweight and fun mode of transport for their little one. This buggy is so compact and easy to fold, making it ideal for use when travelling. The unique and innovative IXEF® frame, seat and hood that make up this buggy ensure you won’t find anything like this, anywhere.
Why do you think it stands out among the plethora of parenting buggies available?
It truly is a 21st century buggy with its sporty 3-wheel design and futuristic materials, we’re certain there are no buggies like the Yezz around.
Where do you source design inspiration?
From art, contemporary design but also from everyday life
What do you think are the hallmarks of outstanding design in the wonderful world of buggies?
A product has to be useful to have a legitimate reason to exist. Then if we make a product why don’t we make it as beautiful as possible (let’s make the world a little bit more beautiful)
What kind of adventures would you imagine the parent owners of your buggy going on?
I would like them to feel free with their child in the city, that the buggy is a tool that helps them on any adventure they may take.
Why did you enter your product into the Junior Design Awards?
The Yezz was truly a labour of love, it still is the most ambitious product in my career and we had a fantastic time developing it.
What is the parenting product you wish you had designed?
The “Domoor” cup by Richard Hutten.
