Test driving a new pushchair is the only way to find out if those wheels, gadgets and gizmos really work so that's exactly what we did with all our entries.

THE PLATINUM AWARD FOR BEST PUSHCHAIR DESIGN... SILVER CROSS WAVE

The versatility of Silver Cross' Wave pushchair impressed all our judges. The perfect choice for anyone who anticipates a growing family, this buggy can be upgraded from a single to a double configuration in one easy step meaning that you don't have to buy a whole new buggy just because you've got another baby on the way.

Travel system compatible with the Silver Cross Simplicity car seat, this pushchair has been finessed with the quality, craftsmanship and attention to detail (we loved the soft bamboo lining on the carrycots) we’ve come to expect from the brand. And it comes in some very stylish colour ways and finishes. This is a buggy that anyone would be proud to push!

THE GOLD AWARD FOR BEST PUSHCHAIR DESIGN... PHIL & TEDS MOD

The Mod by Phil & Teds is a super nifty buggy that is easy to steer and most of all easy to fold up and stow in the boot, on the bus, on the tube in a cafe, wherever your adventures take you.

Designed with city dwellers in mind, this buggy is super compact, especially when folded, and fulfils Phil & Teds mission to make life easier for parents on the go. We particularly like the fact that there is a lot of room for shopping underneath this pushchair and that the handlebar is adjustable to suit buggy pushers of all heights.

Our judge Gabrielle Spang of Scandi Mini said this buggy was a "Great flexible solution with fantastic movement range."

THE SILVER AWARD FOR BEST PUSHCHAIR DESIGN... EGG BY BABYSTYLE

This is hands down the cutest buggy we have ever seen. With its clean lines and egg-like shape that gives a lovely cocooning feel, it looks super contemporary and dare we say it, a little droid like (we might have been watching too much Star Wars).

Whatever your take, this is definitely one very cool companion and thanks to great suspension, super smooth PU Polymer tyres and five position handle adjustment, it is a dream to push.

What's more the simple one-handed fold operation makes the Egg by Babystyle easy to store and transport and it is freestanding once folded.

THE BRONZE AWARD FOR BEST PUSHCHAIR DESIGN... COSATTO WOW

If you've ever cast an admiring glance at a buggy decked out in gorgeous graphic prints, it's very likely that it was a Cosatto. Applying their usual celebration of colour and style to their latest model, the WOW, Cosatto have created something that looks fabulous but also works on every practical level.

The brand new Wow offers a 3-in-1 travel system that is both parent and world facing and suitable from birth. One standout feature is the UPF50+ protection sunshade hood that extends outfurther or can be tucked away unnoticeable.

Our judges noted that this buggy was particularly light and easy to manoeuvre - a triumph of aesthetics and design. And, Zoe de Pass from Dress Like a Mum added (that this pushchair was by far) "my favourite - just love the patterns!"
