Travel with friendsIf you must use a car, start a lift-share scheme with other parents. You will lower emissions, and save money on petrol, too.
Be proactivePut a piece in the school bulletin or website inviting parents to join your scheme. It may also encourage other parents to form their own scheme.
Get on your bikeEven better than using your car, use a bike. Your child will love pedalling along beside you, and you’ll both get fitter in the process.
Walk the walkWalking is, of course, the ultimate eco-friendly way to get your child to school. For young, slower children, you can turn the walk into a game of racing between the lamp posts.
Bussing it School buses are rare these days, but if you live in a remote area, you could petition your council for one as an eco-friendly investment.
