1 Sweep the floor
Forget the thick wall-to-wall carpet. It’s much healthier to opt for natural flooring, such as linoleum or sustainable wood, bamboo or cork.
2 Choose natural materials
Young, sensitive skin deserves gentle, untreated fabrics, such as organic cotton and wool. Check labels to see that natural, water or vegetable dyes were used.
3 Research and reuse
There are plenty of excellent companies offering stylish, eco-friendly furniture. But it’s even better to reuse and recycle, so see if you can repurpose your old pieces.
4 Wonder walls
Head into the natural world to create beautiful “sustainable” art. For example, try using dried leaves, flowers, seeds and feathers.
5 Treasure timeless toys
Be on the look-out for battery-free toys made from recycled or reclaimed plastic or wood, or from organic cotton.
