Ice Age 3

Third part of the mammoth trilogy

WHEN WE LAST saw woolly mammoth Manny he had just found love with fellow mammoth Ellie. Now the pair are settling down to marital life, with a little one on the way. But there’s no such thing as a quiet life for these proud parents-to-be. Not only is the ice melting fast but a rogue dinosaur population has managed to survive extinction in a tropical paradise beneath the icy sheets, and Sid the sloth has managed to seriously upset one particularly ferocious lizard. Now it’s up to Manny and co to come to the rescue.

OK, so as far as scientific accuracy goes, this latest Ice Age film takes a loose approach. But what it lacks in accuracy, it more than makes up for in wit, warmth and humour. Sid is as wacky as ever, while the vain sabretoothed tiger Diego is undergoing an uncustomary crisis of confidence.

And, of course, no Ice Age film would be complete without some hilarious comic set pieces from Scrat the sabretoothed squirrel. This time, his head is turned by a feisty squirrel love interest named Scratte. Could she be the perfect match?

Cert U, £6.99 (DVD), £17.99 (BLU-RAY). For further details, visit www.iceagemovie.com
