As a nation who love siestas almost as much as they love style, is it any wonder that the Italians' taste in bed linen is every bit as fabulous as their fashion sense? Founded in Tuscany by embroider Remigio Pratesi, family-run business Pratesi has been making exquisite bedding since 1906. Each duvet cover or pillowcase is hand-finished with intricate embroidery, including decadent frills and the company's trademark Three Lines design. From May 18-20, there will be a sample sale at Chelsea Old Town Hall, with bed linens going at discount prices, together with bathrobes, beachwear, cashmere and children's fashions. Proceeds from the sale will go to charity Action For Children.
And if our good old British summer does not turn out to be quite so scorching as to justify an Italian-style mid-afternoon nap, we're sure such luxurious linens will bring you nights full of golden slumbers.
Beauty sleep indeed.
Tuesday May 18 from 12-6pm
Wednesday May 19 and Thursday May 20 from 9am-6pm
Chelsea Old Town Hall, Kings Road SW3 5EE.
