Supermodels were upstaged by mini models, as kids took to the fashion designer's catwalk
Flamboyant fashion designer, Julien Macdonald OBE, known for his star spangled catwalk creations, is set to launch a childrenswear collection, SMILE, with high street retailer Mothercare.
The collection will be for boys and girls aged 0-2 years, available in stores and online from 20 April, 2016. It was officially announced during London Fashion Week after Julien's autumn winter 2016 catwalk show, and hinted at during the event itself by the arrival of two child models on the catwalk, holding the hand of one of the statuesque womenswear models (above).
Julien Macdonald already designs a childrenswear collection, Star, with high street giant, Debenhams. He has also recently begun designing menswear, meaning he now has something to offer the whole family.
The SMILE by Julien Macdonald collection at Mothercare will include a daywear jersey collection featuring animals, prints and playful slogans and a partywear collection - which will certainly be eye catching if it is anything like his adult mainline.
Julien comments, “I have such a passion for the design of children’s clothes so to collaborate with Mothercare is very exciting. My fabulous designs combine both luxurious fabrics with delicate detailing as well as some gorgeous characters to make children smile. The collection features classic new-born pieces, sprinkled with unique touches and playful attention to detail. The entire SMILE collection has been lovingly put together for Mothercare’s customers.”
Prices range from £10 up to £50. The the collection will be available in select Mothercare stores and on mothercare.com as well as the Mothercare App from 20th April, 2016
