Hi, it's me, Joe
It seems that where Joe goes, the worlds follows… I spent a lovely Sunday afternoon last weekend having a delicious lunch at the Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington, followed by a visit to watch The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe at a huge marquee in Kensington Gardens. Now I discover that her royal loveliness Princess Kate has been following in my footsteps, watching a magical performance of the show.
Inspired, of course, by the fabulous book by CS Lewis (in the top 20 in Junior's Top 100 Children's Books Of All Time), the drama is set inside a giant tented arena, with hidden trap doors, a rotating stage and atmospheric animation all around, the show is quite a spectacle with dancing animals and magical creature on stilts and a very mean White Witch who's up to no good! Aslan, the lion, is brought to life like a giant puppet (it reminded me of Joey in the stage version of War Horse, who we saw trotting along the top of the National Theatre during the Jubilee River Pageant).
Joe's wardrobe: Union Jack shirt by Paul Smith Junior; chinos by Next; plimsolls by Mini Boden.
